Was it real time or can you stop play and save it?

I like the 3D approach to the battles but only as long as they have a nice overhead map system that allows you to narrow down the view to areas you are interested in.

I played the old "Fields of Glory" game on Waterloo. Was kind of fun. Had some issues but hey those were the early days of the PC gaming.

A market rep of the new company posted a feedback request on the blitz forum. Problem is that the website doesn't describe a damn thing about the game other than a few formations and commands. I guess all Unreal Engine 4 can do naturally is pausable realtime. Each formation is probably a remote controlled pawn class given scripted (bot) or player orders. I don't think an operational level game has ever been made with Unreal so that's a neat concept. From what I've read I don't see how it can be done correctly in that environment. Maybe a kickstart fund collection and cancellation scheme.

Here the 'chief designer' Kranakraj says the engine is based on propriety code which allows 30,000 Unreal character classes to move simulatneously. Which I seriously doubt and believe it's hundreds of mirrored 'pawn' unit formations which cannot move autonymously only through scripting. I couldn't run this game at it's lowest settings on any of my equipment so I'm not gonna pursue it.

Same here, Geoff - my low end system gags fur balls trying to load the Field of Glory 2 game let alone what this game would demand.

I am using a refurbished Dell system and while it was an inexpensive way to solve my PC dilemma at the time I really need a faster system. I am looking at something in the $800-900 price range. The newer 4GB video cards should solve my problems with Photoshop (along with a second drive that I can use for a huge swap space).

So what we are looking for is:

1. Glorious 3D unit, building and terrain graphics.

2. PBEM capable. You plot/I plot the game resolves the moves format OR IGO/UGO format

I am guessing that a map editor would be nice. I used one for the lovely Slitherine Ltd. "Battle Academy" game for building the product "Fortress Metz" and let me tell you - I can make 6 Nappy maps in the JTS editor in the same amount of time that it takes me to build ONE map in the Battle Academy editor.

If you wanna spend that much than I'd suggest https://pcpartpicker.com for build schematics. Followed by pricewatch.com for purchasing. Buying wholesale is a definite waste of money. $50 is about my yearly electronics budget anymore ;] Plus I'm way out of my depth with new fangled things like SSD specs and overclocking modern quad core processors. I just lost my LCD monitor backlight :/ There goes my yearly budget!

I used to build my own PCs from scratch. Had two systems built here in Idaho. The first one actually was still running when I finally took it apart back in San Diego (but it was showing its age and very slow to load software of today). The second one I was less pleased with. Starting in 2013 (4 years after I had it built) it started to shut down on its own. I had a repair place look it over. They could not figure it out. Probably a bad contact on the MB. Tried everything we collectively could figure.

I have gone to Pricewatch.com a lot to find part prices.

I also like to get a 600 watt (or higher) power supply. Many of the store systems give you a 400 Watt power supply. Barely enough to get back. The slimcase units are worse. My small Dell has a 275 watt power supply meaning it barely can run the video adapter I added in so I could run my larger monitor.

As for graphic cards, go for 8GB as that is usually not so much more expensive than the 4GB version but doubling the graphic RAM pays out.

Some explanations for the game mechanics, sounds interesting:
