This involves a river crossing. There are a number of crossing points and some Austrian units are fixed for a while. This gives the French a chance to make a serious attempt at the crossings. A nicely balanced small scenario. Only a charge by heavy cavalry gave the Austrians a minor victory on the last turn.

John Corbin and I played this right after the game came out and it was a lot of fun. It is a bloody fight on a small map with some room to maneuver. It is a real test of both sides combined arms skills..

Paco and I playtested this several times. We enjoyed it much. There were several versions of the scenario but the one you guys played turned out to be the best.

Note: Enrico Acerbi helped clarify the "Neapolitan Chasseurs" unit - it actually was a heavy "cavalerie" unit. Sent me an image or two for the unit too. I had a lot of help from Enrico during production of the game but in the way of emails and also his wonderful set of articles on the battles located up on the Napoleon Series website.

Just finished this one as the MOE V battle - French needed to cross at the flanks more and worry less about the bridge which falls by default once the French have crossed and applied pressure. The Austrians are not going to let their defense forces at the bridge get wiped out trying to defend an objective that usually falls by turn 14. They key to this one is to get skirmishers onto the bridge early and keep them there so that the Austrians cannot destroy/damage the bridge with cannon fire and melees.

Right now I don't see any need to change this scenario. I find this one harder to win as the Austrians than the French. With the correct amount of pressure and combined arms usage the Austrians will withdraw back to where two objectives fall. The exit hexes usually will not come into play.
