Gentlemen,
excuse me, but only one question.
I design a new scenario for NRC, and I'd like to use Regiment Artillery with it.
Who can give me an advice: what descriptions I have to use for Regiment Artillery batteries in OOB file. Is it supposed to be like for the Austrian ones in CE/CW OOBs:
"U 6 5 B G 48 0 3lb Brigade Battery" i.e. "B G" type or something else?[?]

Thank you.
Regards.

He-he-he.
Little French guns totally sowed into deep Russian snows.
Salut Griboval!

Vladimir Nikolaevich!

I'm not sure if 3 pounders are included in canned pdt's for NRC. If not you'd have to add them manually to pdt and name them whatever you want. Also this weapons.dat (or how is it called, where the names of weapons are stored) should be altered. I belive it's described in detail on Stephane's site.

Hope it helps[:I]

I was under the impression that regimental artillery was only useful for moral purposes.

Could it move independent of the infantry formation?

Well before his Russian campaign Nappy added regimental arty to the infantry units. Only the most honorable though. They had in average a couple of these smallish guns. As a rule these guns were detached from the infantry and moved far at the rear. Most of them were abandoned to provide the 6 and 12 pds with horses during the Retreat.

Did I answer?[:)]

Peter

I generated a game for Austerlitz that had the Russian artillery deployed as battalion guns. A two gun section per battalion if I recall correctly. It was ineffective on the day and, because firepower in the game is based on the the number of guns, the game modelled this very well. Those two gun sections made a lot of noise but rarely inflicted more than fatigue (BG game).

Regards

Mark
