The Marengo Campaign is great, of course. Let us to congratulate ourselves. :russianveryhappy:
But when we could get the Eylau Campaign at last, gentlemen?!
Why we still have not one of the most embittered and interesting campaign of the whole Napoleonic epoch?!
Why those gentlemen ignore it so long time despite the both clubs' members voted for it time and again?!
Who knows, uncover the mystery, please. :sly:

Well JTS isn't going to talk about unreleased games. so I doubt we will get to know if work is done, if it's paused, if it's about to release....
I would love to see it too, and it simply has to come sooner or later or else the Napoleonic Wars will never be complete and that would be a damned shame.

Sir,

with all due respect, but the more correct name is the Winter Campaign 1806-1807 and/or Spring Campaign 1807, exactly First Polish War!

With Russia! It's of Napoleon war, naturally! :sly:

It is my understanding that Tiller will "give" a project to a designer and then that person works at their own pace. Most of the designers have full time jobs and all of them have "real lives" too. So some, like Rich Walker for the Civil War games and Bill Peters for our games, work fast. Others work slower. So I bet someone is working on the Eylau and Friedland campaigns it is just a question of how much time they and their helpers have to do it. The Napoleonic games have been coming out for over 15 years, slowly but surely, so I too hope we see 1807 soon too!

I agree ... the 1807 Campaign definitely is one that we all will eagerly look to play.

The game started out with Greg Gorsuch as Scenario Designer but he had Naval commitments to uphold ... someone else took it over and then had to bow out ... finally someone has it and they have a lot of real life commitments and other projects to finish.

I still remember playing Greg's BG module. Was fun to play. Good graphics too.

So just stay patient! I am sure its coming out eventually as someone else said here ...

Second Peninsular War title is due out eventually as well .... Salamanca ;) oooooo

Comment: when I was doing Jena and Austerlitz I remember thinking, "heck, it would be fun to do all three of the "Glory Years" titles but I have no real data on the 1807 campaign ... " I was happy to NOT work on that one as I knew that it would involve a lot of research into the Russian army, something I had no ability to check on. Same with the Peninsular battles ... (and working on the 1814 game was a real gamble ... as the French destroyed a lot of manpower returns for their units .... but I think it turned out very well regardless)

Has anyone read J. Paget's nice one volume work on the Peninsular War? He starts out with a very broad summary, then narrows it down a bit and then goes into more detail on each battle. Really nice book for those that dont read the Peninsular Wars (me) but like to at least get some idea of how they progressed. My good friend, Bob, has read all of Oman's works as well as Weller... I just couldnt get into that much heavy reading when I was younger.

I acquired some books (in English) on 1807 through the years ... "The Polish Gamble" is one I have on Amazon digital. Have yet to read through it all. Anyone here read that one?

Dear Jim, I understand completely what you are talking about the "real lives". But...
I am a member of the NWC since the end of 1990s, and all this time we have been expecting the Eylau-Friedland Campaign release in each next year.
My officers even use the phrase "a mystery of Eylau" when they discuss the subject. And now, when we play all 1808-15 Napoleonic campaigns and even have already his first 1796-1800 campaigns, "the mystery of Eylau" evokes much more our misconception.
Why the ignoring is going on still? :french???: :frenchsad: :displeased: :frenchangry:
Who knows the answer? :hmmm: :revenge:

P.S. As for the best English-language info sources, 2-volume brilliant work of James R. Arnold is it (Crisis in the Snows and Napoleon's Triumph). G.Nafziger's infos in his The Eylau-Friedland Campaign of 1806-7 is very helpful too.

I don't think that it is being ignored....I'm sure once the series is over we'll have almost everything! :)

Us Prussians had a wait a longtime for a game that was good for us......

I think it'll show up one day and then great charges of cavalry can be had! :D

Scenario designers are easier to come by than artists.

If it's really ignored is unknown. At least 2 designers dropped of the radar so it is no wonder that we haven't seen it yet.
Question I would rather like to be answered is, is the development just on hold because the responsible designer has other commitments or has the development stopped because there is no designer assigned to such a game.
If the former is true we just have to wait, if the later is true someone should step up and continue the work as the game surely won't finish itself.

Guys .. guys! There is a Scenario Designer assigned to the Eylau title. He is just very busy at the moment. So sorry that the game has taken this long but its just the way it goes.

Just good to hear that someone is assigned to it, keeps the hope alive.

Oh, yes, Chris, it is really good to hear at least something after all those 15 years of the vain anticipation. :frenchsick:
Let's hope that mysterious someone feels happy himself in the state to be assigned. :frenchroll:
There is nothing for us but to 'keep the hope alive'. :frenchsalute:

Also, I hope the Russian players can satiate their desire for famous Russian battles by playing Suvarov's battles and campaign I Marengo. His campaign matches up with Napoleon's best and I had fund playtesting a couple of them.

And why we are wishing for new games, I want to see Eylau, more from the French Revolution, the Franco Prussian War, the Austro-Prussian War (7 weeks war), Crimea, the Wars for Italian Independence and 1848 battles, and the 7 Years War.

We can all dream!
