A rather difficult game to play and assess. The French have to cross the river. Periodic fixing due to rain hampers this operation. The allies used cavalry screens to further delay the French in our game - muskets were unable to shoot so artillery had to be brough forward, or cavalry had to charge. Any attempt at a full scale attack was impossible in the time and with fixing; even local attacks were risky as troops would fix at the vital moment. Only on the allied left was there any significant action. Saving a calamity on either side it seems a draw is near certain.

Katzbach was one of the more difficult battles to design. The rain, the terrain. Try playing this with the newer map too! LOL It has a lot more detail in it.

Eventually I will make my way back to this one as I was never fully satisfied at how it played out. Just know that the weather was awful and a lot of Silesian landwehr died the day following the battle from exposure. That should give you some idea of how brutal the situation really was.
