Hey All.....Especially uniformology experts!

We're very close to having the new OOB in place for the LGA's website. I'm at a stumbling block and need some help though. I've pretty much got icons for the Ligne units of Oudinot's Reserve Grenadiers, but am having a hard time with getting more Légère unit icons for this force. I've not found many resources that go into large detail about the uniforms in 1805. I'm reading through posts on the The Napoleonic Wargamer group on Facebook at the moment. I was wondering if anyone knows if shakos would've been used with the Légère units at all in 1805?

Thanks!

Voltiguers and Chasseurs wore shakos. Carabiniers wore the bearskins. Do a search on 1805 French Legere on Google images .. plenty of samples.

It was the French Ligne infantry still wearing the Bicorne/Tricorne hat in those days.

Just stumbled over this, maybe it's of use:

As the shakos seem to have been better in protecting the soldier from close combat attacks like saber cuts and gun butts I wonder why not the line infantry was the one to adapt it first.
Seems a shakos is not much better then a bicorn if skirmishing.
