Hi, I'm a new recruit to the forum.
My first post is to introduce myself and introduce a 2D units mod and map.
As a great fan of the Napoleonic era in this mod I have tried to give the game a classic look, similar to the Napoleonic era maps.
How in these, the relief is not represented by colors but by lines and there is no variation for winter scenarios. Towns and cities are represented more compactly.
The counters reflect the formations of the time. In the enlarged view, I have kept the troop distinctions included in the last patch, and in the extreme zoom there is no variation.
The files in the Map folder are for all games. Each Unidades* folder has a text file that identifies for supported games.
I hope you find it interesting and feel free to comment on any problems or improvements you find.

Juan,

I have been using this mod for a week, and I must say, it is both beautiful and functional.

It has become my default way to look at the game, and makes it look all shiny and new.

Thank you for your work and for sharing this.

A Llywelyn

Thank you very much for your kind words.
I just uploaded an updated version of the mod in the first post.
I have corrected the total darkening of the non-visible hexes in the magnified view and added a new icon for the skirmishers, to make them more visible.

Sous-lieutenant Martin,

Thanks very much for the update.

I did notice the visibility problem, but it was not a problem since it only affected one of the 2D views, and did not detract from the overall quality of the mod. But thanks for fixing it! Makes the mod even more perfect.

Besides the fresh look, I also like the way that your mod avoids Nato symbology, which I don't think is historically accurate. Personally, I like to immerse myself in the period and using modern graphics detracts a little from that.

In my humble opinion, your mod should become the default for all the NC games. With the new painted 3D maps and some of the excellent 3D unit sprites that make the 3D view look like a tabletop miniatures game, and your 2D maps mod, which makes it look like a period map, I bet this excellent series of games could overcome its reputation for being a bit dated in this graphics obsessed world.

And that's just the presentation. I am also really impressed with the continual work that's going on and which so many others are working on. As a person who is coming back to this series after several decades, I am very happy that this excellent series of games is alive and well.

Otra vez, muchísimas gracias

Well done, Juan :)

I think it would be fun to put together a mod that uses graphics like those used in the old 1777 Ferraris maps of Belgium. I used those for several of the map overlays for the RBR game. Definitely a "vintage" look for sure.

Keep up the good work, sir!

He did not know the map of Ferraris. Thank you for discovering me one of the most beautiful maps ever made.
