Remembering the Battle of Friedland on this day in June. Don't forget to crank up one of the more challenging battles in our game arsenal. For the Allies it surely is a challenge to be able to beat the French. For the French, holding off that initial Allied onslaught can be tantamount to panic! ROFL

Several variants add some flavor to the old battle. Enjoy!

Napoleon at the Battle of Friedland (1807).
The Emperor is depicted giving instructions to General Nicolas Oudinot. Between them is depicted General Etienne de Nansouty and behind the Emperor, on his right is Marshal Michel Ney.

The strategy for the French player in this battle is similar to Marengo only far more troops arrive so they do not have to retreat as far to the rear. Its very easy to think that the front line can be held but in fact the Russians can run over the initial forces of the French.

Would love to hear back from players that have played this one out and their thoughts on how its plays.

I might try it again.

I started to play but got intimidated when 60 plus guns were rolled out.
