Nixq Britain rsquo growth slower than other G7 nations Friday 06 June 2014 8:33 amUpdated:Wednesday 29 May 2019 9:30 pmUS job additions take total above pre-recession peakBy: Peter SpenceShareFacebookShare on FacebookXShare on TwitterLinkedInShare on LinkedInWhatsAppShare on WhatsAppEmailShare on EmailAdd as a preferredsource on GoogleThe labour market appears to have defrosted. According to nonfarm payroll figures released today, the US added a seasonally adjusted 217,000 jobs in May.That s just 1,000 lower than the 218,000 additions that economists had forecast for this month. According to the Bureau for Labour Statistics that takes the total number jobs above their pre-recession peak.Total US employment now stands 98,000 above its January 2008 peak, owala setting a new all-time high. For now, the pace of monthly job creation seems to be solidly above the 200,000 mark. Paul Ashworth, chief US economist at Capital Economics, says that monthly gains at that level will certainly allow the Fed to stick to its QE tapering plans this year. The headline unemployment rate remains unchanged, stuck at 6.3 per cent having fallen sharply earlier this year.Ashworth sees the reduction in unemployment triggering a significant pick-up in US wage growth soon, such that it will become one of the big economic stories in the second half of this year.Berenberg s chief UK economist, Rob Wood, agrees th Tpre BHP Billiton takeover of Potash could cost Canada over pound;1bn in lost taxes Wednesday 16 February 2011 8:59 pmUpdated:Thursday 30 May 2019 8:52 pmIcesave deal gets final approvalBy: KCS-content stanley butelka ShareFacebookShare on FacebookXShar...
