John Tiller is the glue that holds them all together. http://www.johntillersoftware.com/About.html Battleground games were produced by a company named Talonsoft between 1995 and @ 2000. John then moved to HPS where he redesigned the games in the basic campaign format we know today. In 2010 he left H...

Hi, General, This has been discussed, and I believe Rich Walker took steps to standardize PDTs. But I think John Tiller has always left that up to the individual designers. http://www.wargame.ch/board/acwgc/viewtopic.php?f=145&t=20846&p=111131&hilit=parameter+data#p110933 Then there is a...

One of life's great mysteries. Better to ask does stack total apply or each individual unit in the stack apply separately? Does it work the same way for defensive fire (instant application) as for offensive fire (applied at the beginning of the next player turn)? I don't believe the answer to every ...

I must be misunderstanding something. That makes it sound like it would be easier to uncrew a six gun battery as opposed to a one gun battery because you could impose more casualties on the six gun battery and it is still divided by 100. Hi, Ned, I don't think it makes a difference if it's one gun ...

I think the way it works is you fire at the artillery unit. The program computes results in number of casualties as if the artillery was infantry. Then it uses the formula (# of casualties)/100 to come up with a percentage chance the crew is eliminated. So the size of the unit does matter. If the cr...

I think for field artillery in the Civil War just canister was used. Yet I have read the following quote,

"A little more grape, Capt. Bragg" - General Taylor at the Battle of Buena Vista in 1847.

I recently noticed that this year marked the 25th anniversary of the introduction of John Tiller-designed games. Thought it was time to voice my appreciation to all involved in the making, marketing and support of these games. It is not an overstatement to say that they have enriched my life. I don'...

Update...this looks to be the old SSI game.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yk_V7KWk7U There were some features of these SSI games that I wish would be incorporated into the JTS games, but graphics isn't one of them. It was better on the Commodore 64, but not by much. Still, considering the compu...
