Thanks for all your responses guys. I'm now excited and terrified in about equal measures. I'll try and find some hip armour as they're shooting wallet piercing ammo.

Gentlemen, My family and I are moving to Virginia, a place I've never lived. In fact we've not lived in the states since '89 and think we're in for a healthy dose of culture shock. The job site is in Chantilly and I'll need to live within reasonable commuting distance. Does anyone have any advice? R...

Gentlemen, My apologies if I have offended anyone. I have made my apologies directly to Col Carroll and would encourage at least one other officer in blue to do the same. The date remains a momentous one in American history. From here onward the result is known - only the bill in blood need be deter...

Lt Daley, In my first battle outside of West Point I was obliterated at Gettysburg by then Col Tim Reneau. It wasn't even close. The bruises have now faded and I'm hopefully both older and wiser. Tim and I have just started a Game of BGN Hooker's Debut so maybe I can get my own back! Best Wishes, Lt...

Gen Thayer, Maj Lateur,

For their sins, Cols Montag and Corbin have asked me to command this engagement. Would you please identify your third player?

Gen Thayer would you please send me an email so that I have your address?

Respectfully,
Lt Col Berdanier

So let me see if I got this right. A brigade commander is always replaced by Col Anonymous even though we have the historic record of who took command of the brigade during the battle. Should a division, corps or army commander become a casualty then one of his direct reports, chosen randomly withou...

How are replacement leaders for divisions and corps casualties selected? Is it by rank? randomly? named leaders before Col Anonymous? by command rating? by leadership rating? I've recently seen an instance where Pender was a casualty and Perrin was assigned as division commander. The problem with th...

Gentlemen, How many of you have ancestors who fought in the Civil War? What units? Engagments? In my family, I'm the eldest son dating back to John Berdanier who was a member of the 96th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, nicknamed "The National Light Infantry" a pre Civil War militia group. My Great-...
