I am a very historical-minded player seeking a Confederate Officer who is compatible with the following: Play the Ozark disk Pea Ridge campaign in old-fashioned phases-style. House rule: no infantry melee in column except over bridges . . . "On Map Results" under "Settings" menu must be turned off .... |

Now, let's be gentle with the lost causers . . .
. . . although anyone who's ever traveled much in the south comes away with the feeling that Sherman just didn't go far enough.

I also like the idea of the "total visibility" button. That would save a lot of time. As for the 'engineer battalion' idea. I wouldn't mind having the ability to build pontoon bridges, but we must remember how many hours they could take to build. For example, across the James took a day and a half, ... |

Very nice, Rich. A good addition to the information pool . . . How about some journal-type entries on how a new disk is researched and prepared? ---or the shake-down process for enhancements and/or suggestions?

The rules you cite are concerned with supply wagons and lone officers. How does that relate to the situation you describe? . . . Exactly what does your opponent object to? Your description needs to be more specific.

Thank God! Someone besides me is having that problem! I'm not crazy!
I've been experiencing that same problem for at least two weeks? Anyone else?
Help!

I figure I chime in with criticisms enough that I should also remember to contribute to threads when I might agree with the system . . . Penalties for nightime movement and activity are fine as they are. Remember that it's not only the points penalty that matters, but also the forsaking of fatigue r... |

The good old United States suffers by comparison with European countries in length of vacation allowed by employers. Two weeks or so is normal for us. Twice that (or more) is not uncommon over there.

Weather is a good idea, but needs a little more water under the bridge of experience still. I just played a turn from an Atlanta Campaign scenario, using weather, and in this particular turn the weather was listed as "Light Rain / Light Gun Smoke." A unit I was moving was required to have 10 movemen... |

It's interesting that so many of the proposed 'tweaks' to the single-turn system entail things that move that system back closer to the 'phases' approach. Perhaps tweaks to the 'phases' might be a shorter distance to cover?----such as changing formation anytime during a movement phase. Just an obser... |

. . . uh, the original post in this thread mentions phasing out MDF, Rich---and you wrote it. What does phasing out mean, if not it ultimately being eliminated?

I play at least two-thirds MDF phased play. The main reason is the totally whacko defensive fire in single-turn play. I would not consider it kindly if MDF were phased out. I would probably not buy any new games where only single-turn play was offered. Sorry. Sincerely, Brig Gen Dwight McBride 2nd B... |

I play in this manner frequently . . . To dispell any qualms, it does not mean there is any extra file-exchanging necessary.
