As one of the voices complaining bitterly over this supposed imbalance, I feel I must add some findings/figures of my own to augment Kennons welcome research: Using the June 30th OOB as Kennon did, I attempted to further breakdown the particulars of the Infantry on either side. The Union AoP fields ...

I have an opponent in a very tricky situation on HPS 2nd Bull Run (Historical) and he's had to e-mail me to raise this very subject. He had Cavalry, mounted & dismounted, in the wooded terrain near the mapedge near the Reb reinforcement entry hex. I've swung a flanking column hard up against the edg...

How about an agreed house rule that retreating units ...be they routed, disrupted or undisrupted ...may only exit the map on pike, road, path and rail hexes? This would compromise and offer one side a way out and the other side a means to prevent escapes. Brigadier-General Jim Wilkes. 2nd Brigade, C...

I've just noticed that units being moved at night on an Ozark campaign aren't gaining any fatigue. I've checked the optional rules and the "night movement fatigue" option is selected. I've checked in other night turns of scenarios on Ozark and even set-up a test scenario of night turns just to check...

Very well Lt. Lynn. I am unable to find your current e-mail address to contact you on. The AoS records dept. seem to be incorrect. I have e-mailed you through the club facility. Please contact me at: digglyda@aol.com if you read this first. Brigadier-General Jim Wilkes. 2nd Brigade, Cavalry Division...

Gentlemen, We are currently heavily engaged in a modified version of the 3 day HPS Gettysburg scenario 007(large map). Unfortunately, one of the Union officers has had to withdraw from the game at turn #70 (of #158) after great efforts in the field. The situation hangs in the balance ...a veteran Re...

Try not to worry or be too much put off by sectional Artillery breakdown amongst the different games. As mentioned, sectional breakdown IS probably a better representation and is certainly fairer for the two opposing sides. I find the big scenarios on Gettysburg are the only situations where large n...

I am currently reading through volume I of Shelby Foote's Civil war narrative. I was thinking that the situation described of Lee's plan to attack Pope's Army of Virginia on the 17 - 20th August 1862 in it's position in the corner of the Rapidan & Rappahannock rivers would make for a good scenario. ...

Hmm...strange game. I just couldn't take to it. some features I thought were excellent, but overall it just left me indifferent. A shame...I think the lack of option to play versus human opponents is the main failing in my opinion. Brigadier-General Jim Wilkes. 2nd Brigade, Cavalry Division, XX Corp...

A 45 year old Police officer swept to his death during the night when a bridge on the river Derwent near Workington in Cumbria collapsed. A very solidly built double arched brick bridge that had stood for decades on the normally modest flowing Derwent. A confirmed 8 inches of rain fallen overnight i...

My thinking was that the Gods eye view of the battle map more than makes up for the loss of ability to communicate...resulting in something like the right amount of fog-of-war for a "realistic" experience.

Some weeks ago I placed a post in the PBEM opponent forum finder with the intent of finding players interested in a multi-player engagement at one of the 1st Bull Run scenarios. My simple plan was for three Union officers each commanding a Division and two Reb players (one each for the Army of the P...
