General Hulinsky I am afraid that I must decline your fine offer, sir. Although you cut an excellent figure in the picture on your website I'm afraid I noticed a preponderance of Stars and Bars there, and unfortunately I have never developed a taste for grits. Anyway, I am sure that General Lastowic...

I'll go to a 64 bit operating system when its a true 64 bit operating system with true 64 bit hardware... and if the OS is from Microsoft only after the OS has been on the market for over 2 years (at least one SP under its belt). Otherwise its XP for me. 1st Lt Jack Waldron 2nd Bde/1st Div/XIX Corps...

Lt Herbert Sounds like a good idea but I think you are forgetting that some new graduates are rookies while some have 30 to 40 years of wargaming experience. Not exactly a fair matchup to go straight by rank. Anyway, if we are interested in developing a base of good players then the match ups should...

General Meyer, My respects I am sorry sir, I did not mean to frighten the rebs or give away valuable intelligence sir. I just thought a little friendly warning that I cut my teeth with Major SPI at Antietam and Cedar Mountain and repulsed the rebs at Pickets Charge with General Yaquinto, and I did t...

Sorry guys, didn't catch this one when it was fresh.

Did you solve the issue or does it still exist?

Seeing this has become a general melee discussion I have a question that bothers me somewhat. Mixed Order was developed in Napoleonic warfare to balance the issues of firepower and mass during the charge by mixing Column and Line formations. Seeing most of the professional officers studied Nap warfa...

I've got four underway right now, one with Hampus that we started prior to the Lt Cup being announced, one with Paul for the Lt Cup, One with General Tisdale and one with Nick testing a scenario for the Lt Cup. That and I'm working on another scenario for the Lt Cup. I've got a fairly fullplate righ...

Gen McOmish

For you rebs we've modified the words from the song a little bit;

"You can check in anytime you like, but you can never leave"

In other words, you really probably don't want to find the place.

Gentlemen I think you're geting yourselfs wrapped around the axle a bit. 1000 men can be stacked in a hex, which is quite feasible because even using Michael's numbers you could fit 160,000 men (400 wide by 400 deep) Seeing firing and movement are based on 20 minutes of time allowing a firing streng...

Neal, I agree with you totally. At this level (whether you want to call it grand tactical or operational) there has to be a lot of, shall we say, abstractions. If we could make a playable tactical level game system fot the civil war (such as ASL) then we could eliminate some of the abstractions, but...
