I am playing Nick D in the Ozarks as I have been banished to the West after the debacle at Gettysburg! (Just kidding-Nick is a great opponent!) Battle of Westport 1864 http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_eImFMqiG8oY/Swg4o0ImymI/AAAAAAAACko/tbJENr_kdyQ/s1600/Battle+of+Westport+OCT+186.jpg I don't know a lot ab...

General Walker <salute> I am sure my opponent is fine as I have played him before, so that is not the issue. However, I may be playing with hard ZOC because I did not re-set game when I started. I bet that is it! I appreciate your insight. Major Elkin Asst. COS (acting) AoT It's just like shooting s...

Officers of both South and North <salute> It seems I have gained a "reputation" for the tough loss I sustained at Gettysburg. I certainly appreciate the talents of Tricky Nicky as a commander! http://presse.saalbach.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/tricky-nicky.jpg In all seriousness, Nick was able to...

I am still learning Chancellorsville, but causalities seem high. I like Chickamaugua better. On the good looks thing, there are times the Southern gents aren't quite refined enough http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/01/48/b0/93/bumpkin64.jpg Major Elkin Asst. A fascinating look at the politics of the Western Armies and a pretty good account of the Batlle of Stones River. Very interesting take on Grant and Sheridan. Web site for paper is http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/2/4/6/5/24653/24653.txt Battle of Stone River. (around 15 pages) A Paper Read by Request ...

It could simply be my ineptness, but it seems that Union causilities in this battle are much higher than in other campaign games. Has anybody else experiecned this issue, or is it just me being as dumb as Hooker. My experience has been as high as 40 to 1 ratios. Here are the causalities as reported ...

The website and links for interview can be found here: http://thismightyscourge.com/2010/01/02/interview-with-russell-s-bonds-author-of-war-like-the-thunderbolt/ Sounds like a great book about the Western Theater. It might be an excellent read for the acting Assistant Chief of Staff for the AoT Majo...

A serendipity effect. One of the blogs I read is doing a 3 part study of this campaign. You might want to check it out A blog's deep study on Hood's last campaign http://thismightyscourge.com/2009/12/31/from-atlanta-to-spring-hill-john-bell-hoods-1864-franklin-nashville-campaign/ From Atlanta to Spr...

<salute> I shall certainly do so sir! After reading the article, it may be Hood had a chance to win the battle. A website dedicated to General Hood vehemntly denies that he was "poor general" and attacks Wiley Sword's books that deal with the general. A different view can be found here: http://johnb...

If you own HPS Chickagmauga and have not played this little gem, check it out. I have discovered a sharp website for the re-enactment of the battle http://www.perryvillereenactment.org/index.html I sure wish I could get there next October.
