Well the Union has gained three new horse thieves into their ranks. But at least they have hard currency so lets drink up! |

Having listened to numerous audio books, battlefield tours, and heard historians discuss this famed general I have yet to really understand how to pronounce his name. Maybe there is no right answer as all seemed to be used.
I have heard: Rose-crans Ros-ic-rans Rosscrans |

There never seems to be a reason to place a commanding officer above a brigade command level in the "front line". Often I see, and use, brigade commanders for the additional 10% bonus they give to either attackers or defenders but otherwise they are the only ones I ever even catch a glimps... |

Playing the HPS Antietam game the latest update has quite a few OOB errors as far as unit boxes go. There are "infantry" units displaying the unit picture of the opposing side and others that have an ironclad picture on an infantry regiment. Probably about a dozen or so overall at the Batt... |

I thought about giving it a go but have to agree with your assessment. The problem isn't that the battle is unwinnable on paper but that because we all know exactly the enemy's position at the start, their numbers, and their release schedule, we can plan and react accordingly. Much like a Shiloh or ... |

Thank you, sirs. I wish I could say it was skill but I think my boys just cut through the Wilderness a mite faster than did Bill's. We came upon their rear wagons and t'werent nothing left he could do. |

I was playing a game and had a modifier of 100. I began to wonder if I could even harm the enemy if they had a modifier of 100%. I didn't stick around to find out and retreated. I was wondering if it meant my fire value was reduced by 100% and I couldn't hit anything. |

Can anyone explain terrain modifiers to me and how they effect fire and melee modes exactly? |

When I play games sometimes I see a percentage in parenthesis like this in the strength menu.
1667 2nd Bde (Crook) (67%)
What would the 67% refer to? |

Well what is true and what not? General Whitehead seems correct with his statement: But in the cases mentioned he was probably right and it is a good generals responsibility to identify why a failure occurred and hopefully taking steps to fix it. Lee tented to accept responsibility almost to a faul... |

Excerpt in question: Grant was furious. "This last attack only served to increase our casualties without giving any benefit whatever," he wrote some twenty years later, still chagrined. Quick as ever to shift the blame for any setback or evidence of shortcoming: at Belmont it had been over... |

I was listening to The Civil War Part II on audiobook today and a sentence Foote wrote about Grant struck me as interesting. In reference to his failure to take Vicksburg with an all out assault Foote commented that Grant, "once again, as was his habit, looking for a scapegoat to blame." H... |
