Paul - I think what the MOP rule demonstrates is that each brigade coordinated attacks of its own units. Unit attachment DID happen during battles. The game doesn't have any ability for that like the Panzer Campaign series does. What I think is that if the units are in the same Division and the Div ... |

I doubt that Rich will remove too many of them for the one reason that he will want to test each one that is removed and that takes time. Then test the next one and so on. There are some of those rules that are no-brainers to move to default while others have pros and cons from the community. I guar... |

With a "Seniority" value at the end of the leader string in the OB files it could be done. Just a number would suffice. Also if someone like Newton is available for Corps command his "replacement value" (I am calling it) would have a "flag" saying that any corps command... |

And be sure to comment on the thread that Rich Hamilton created that deals with Optional Rules becoming Default rules instead: https://forum.wargameds.com/viewtopic.php?p=8679#p8679 Rich would like input from the community on the choices. Some of them are no-brainers to remove from the Optional Rule... |

No Wing commander level in the ACW series, like we have in the Napoleonic series, to facilitate that extra level of command needed in these situations? I would make Meade the Wing Commander and Grant the Army commander. |

It would be nice to hear from some of you guys that are very knowledgeable on the subject of routed ACW units during the war. What WOULD they do once the first rout move was done? I wont even try and use Hollywood films as a basis for my answer (its called I don't really like the taste of residual m... |

I found in my discussion with the late Doug Strickler that it fruitless to disagree with him on his decisions for the game. He zinged me good with the II Corps topic where I wondered why the corps arrives on the first day. His answer was spot on saying that they were there but when the hills were no... |

And both of those regiments are already part of Longstreet's and Early's brigades. Rich Walker already had "detached" them to the other commands. So no need to build another OB file. So just to clarify: Holmes' brigade remained on the right and never engaged. Two of his regiments did being... |

Hi Paul - I will add Holmes' brigade in as reinforcements then. Seems the best way to do this. I really hate that one Union division is stuck to the rear while Ewell is free to roam about. If we go by historical then I will leave Ewell out. For the attachments you mention for Holmes, I will build a ... |

I believe Scenario 047 already does all this and includes action from September 18 - 20. I guess I should have looked LOL! It's been a day! Oh Rich, we Scenario Designers deserve an "Oops, missed that one" ... ;) Now that I am more or less retired from WDS design work and playing the game... |

Nice input, guys. Thanks. Looks like Ewell was busy marching to and fro and could easily be taken out of the game while Holmes never was engaged making his status similar to Miles. If we want to play a "Historical" scenario then we should be fair to the Union. Removing those two brigades w... |
