I have no problem with the isolation rule although I am 50/50 on the idea that it could be checked every turn twice, once for each's side movement. On the one hand, I get the logic that if a unit is safely back in a line with other regiments, then it is no longer isolated & therefore shouldn't s...

Blake, this is the internet - you can argue with whoever you like :) Human societies always seem to under-estimate how much war will change things - despite all the evidence to the contrary. As Tom Berenger once put it in a film I'm certain we've all seen, 'you British had your own civil war once, d...

Fascinating topic, gentlemen - I've enjoyed reading the dialogue so far. My view is that few, if any, Union generals besides Grant could have taken Vicksburg. Like all of us, I love the John Tiller games, but one thing the game engine (understandably) struggles to replicate is the logistical challen...

I've been following this discussion with much interest. I think the different perspectives, offered by so many knowledgeable contributors, make the wider point that historical figures don't fit in neat boxes; and that's why they're so compelling to read about. Blake's point about Forrest being a par...

Lt Col Treuting,

<Salute>

This sounds right up my street - I think I'd really enjoy this. I've got most of the titles, happy to play either side. Send a courier if you're still looking for somebody to tom.carlingtonne@googlemail.com

All the best,

Tom

Just a quick note, and I won't provide any specific information, but I participated in a 2-hour conference call that discussed the concerns largely presented here. WDS continues to support these games and will continue to make improvements over time. I am not a WDS employee but have been a lead des...

Congratulations all - especially BG Will Stewart who gave me a lesson at Tunnel Hill & LG Newell, who has been a doughty opponent on many fields.

Special thanks to MG Blake Strickler who, along with Gen. Kunz, got me started at VMI & really reawakened my love for these games.

Gentlemen,

I have been considering this scenario for a little while - if you would like a multi-player game to share the load, I'd gladly take part under Colonel Stewart's able command.

All the best,

Tom

I find hypotheticals & 'what-ifs' fascinating so I would love the chance to be involved when the time comes.
