Please do not read the 'spoiler' below until after you have watched the latest video installment. At this stage of the battle I was still not worried about the centre. Technically, the CSA controlled it as it was flying our flag. We could see that the Union did not have many men close to the centre...

Hmmm, as suspected, a big advantage to the defender with the new modifier. Also, a big advantage to the side with more men in raw numbers, usually the Union. In many scenarios it will be very difficult for the Confederates to amass sufficient men to avoid a negative 20% modifier when the defenders h...

A "long, dreary, wet Summer"? The impression that we have in the southern hemisphere if that the northern hemisphere is burning up. Even cacti wilting ( https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-08-03/arizona-heatwave-is-wilting-cacti/102683216 ) in Arizona as July was recorded as the world's hotte...

A good overview. Thank-you Ashdoll. One comment in particular stands out for me, "I don't know what's driving these massive updates". It concerns me as well because I do not think it is an endeavour to improve simulation. I suspect it is part of a 'one size fits all' approach where mechani...

Thanks for the reply. I have since found that WDS has posted some explanatory notes that can be found here ( https://wargameds.com/blogs/news/civil-war-battles-4-03 ). I still find the artillery change odd and it will take some time to get used to and will be problematic in scenarios where there is ...

That's a surprise. I haven't downloaded it yet [I'm still transferring v4.02 games to a new computer purchased a month ago]. There looks to be many changes looking at the Changelog, much more than for v4.02 (over two pages for v4.03 compared with about three-quarters of a page for v4.02). I'm curiou...

Gentlemen, After a long hiatus from publishing videos, I am back at it! Check out the latest Video After Action Report on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYOcqxSIloI This battle features the Federal team of Walt Dortch and Jim Boling versus the Rebel team of Paul Swanson and Todd Hively....

I just came across another issue with artillery during a battle in Overland v4.02. For some reason the VPs for destroyed artillery are only being recorded as 15 VPs guns not the correct 30 VPs per gun. Not an error - that was that title's designer's call. Now if you want to debate whether it made s...

Yes, the new letters that appear on the map with v4.02 are, as you said, "B for brigade, D for division C for corps and A for army". Also, when you select a leader and see his picture in the hex info area you see that same letter (which is also new with v4.02). However, if you 'right-click...

The first letter is his command rating. However, should he fail his command test his rating then becomes the one in parentheses (it will be coloured yellow when he fails).

You can never have too many Pauls. In my first office job there were five Pauls on our floor alone. Now, however, it's becoming an increasingly uncommon name. In my State in Australia it has not been in the top 100 baby names since last century (and even then it was near the bottom of the list). Lon...

I've now looked at it. They are idiots. [Some even think it was 'fired' by the Confederacy, yet the round was completely intact.] We know that Hazlett's 5th United States Artillery, Battery D was the only Union artillery there. We know that the battery was equipped with Parrott 10 pounders. The thre...

I understood that the battles would be AI controlled. Doesn't manual intervention in moving leaders to rally routed units change the results?
