Forum: Mason Dixon Tavern   Topic: Stuart as Infantry Corps Commander?

"Would Stuart have left the Cavalry Corps if asked by Lee?" I'm confident that General Stuart, and many others, would have done anything General Lee asked of them. However, I have doubts that Lee would have asked him. Stuart's infantry experience was limited although he did well for a tim...

I've yet to play with the latest version but the change with guns sounds good to me. Upping the stacking figure to 80 [from 50] should lessen the ability to cram as many guns in a hex [not as much for my liking but that's another story]. So, in a 1,000 man stacking limit scenario you used to be able...

Whenever I see pictures from America I always note the abundance of flags. It is a rare thing here. The man across from me used to fly a flag but he moved out last year and I do not know of any flags being displayed (apart from public buildings) in the entire town of about 90,000 people. There are p...

I'm sorry to hear that as no trip to the hospital is a fun experience but I'm glad everything went well. One of the main reasons I chose to live where I do was the presence of a sizable public hospital. [It wasn't just the great climate, koalas, and coastal lifestyle.] I had to take my daughter to t...

I joined the club very early on following its inception and have watched the games evolve since then. I was in the Union Army until about 5 years when I switched to the south in order to experience all the fun from the southern side. As my record will attest I don't care much about winning and will...

LOL.
There are a few notations on my guidon that list the battles of Mixed Organizational Penalty. We shall never surrender that ground.

Thank You for the response. to your points Mixed Organizational Penalty : I agree it is a Silly rule However IMO it aids the Union in that the side with the smaller units and less of them CSA sometimes is forced to stack Mixed units so as to Get a Larger force in a hex so it is a way to offer the U...

I agree that Rout Limiting is an unhistoric Optional Rule. However, in my experience most (players on both sides) will not play with it unchecked. Yes, it can definitely favour the larger side in a battle (usually the Union) although it can also disfavour the side with lower overall quality (also us...

Not being as conversant with Club Rules as I was at one time, I'm just a bit confused about the difference between "Inactive" and "Discharged". The way I understand it, even officers in the Reserve Corps (who aren't actively gaming) are expected to muster. Is that correct? And i...

One of the chief reasons that people join and maintain membership in the ACWGC is to utilize our Opponent Finder. Yes, one of the reasons. Your reference earlier to the NWC led me to see that they recognise that "members have a wide variety of interests ... Active membership can be achieved in...

I fully support the proposed changes. They go hand-in-hand with the club's new direction. What is the "new direction" ? The changes were issued saying that they were "mainly administrative" . In other words, 'nothing to see here', a phrase applied when there is actually a lot to...

"Fraudulent enlistments are something which can be handled under the expulsion 2.5.3 rules easily enough." Noted and agreed. Thank-you for the explanation. "With the addition of rule 2.5.5 - the only purpose of this rule is to allow GinC's to classify members within their group as be...

It would be helpful if the 'new' and 'changed" parts could be highlighted in some manner so that's it's easier to see what is the intention of the proposed changes. From what I see from a quick read of them it is essentially: Stronger muster rules; Introduction of Reserve Corps; and Clarifying ...

That is the best 'new recruit' post I've seen in a long time. My sincere welcome to you joining the Club. I also retired early (very early due to medical reasons) although I am now officially retired having reached 60 years old. Unofficially, I am still 'working' at solely raising three children (12...

My best guess is that it has to do with 'range'. The hexes in the game are 125 yards across and the effective range of pistols is far less than that (e.g. Colt Army Model 1860=50-75 yards - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_Army_Model_1860 ). If the cavalry are firing off pistols it would generally...
