If you select Manual Defensive Fire OFF the game will play in one phase per turn in which you can move, fire, melee in any order and the non-phasing player's units will react with (weak) defensive fire when you move, fire, change formation, etc., in their LOS. Same here. I am using both UK and US versions of the BG games. I don't think there is any technical difference, reckon it's just marketing reasons.

I find it so interesting because I thought cavalry disruption was hardcoded in the engine.

Mounted cavalry disrupts in woods in the HPS games ... or so I thought. In fact, it does in Corinth, Ozark, and Gettysburg. Oddly it doesn't in Franklin. Interesting anomaly ...

That's all not it, I am afraid. Ted sends me two emails for two different games. Same sending ISP, same receiving ISP, same email programs involved, all the same.
