Also, never play Turn Based without the separate Melee option on or you will find out about Blitzkrieg. :)
Likewise, never leave units completing a line that are to weak to stand up to fire. It is still possible to shoot a hole into someones line and Blitzkrieg.

Skirmishers are very difficult to simulate in a war game. On one hand they are very flexible and can be very effective. But on the other hand, without radios they can't be effectively controlled. From the game point of view they become overpowered because the player has practically a "god"...

Gen. Whitehead, Does defensive fire during a melee target the attacking regiment stacked on top or is it random. I do not understand why Tiller never designated the units as one in the front line and one supporting. I agree. With the system the game uses firing should affect the stack if the stack ...

I have found the benefit of having a leader in the stack is usually not enough to justify the risk of losing that leader. Unless it is a really lousy leader and the replacement is just as good or better. Also, remember when you lose your brigade leader there is no one to trigger your brigade to rally.

Also, the every other hex line allows your to put more men into each stack. Sometimes you can make the hex just about unbeatable (900-1000 men) by melee. While the same force in continuous line would be weak enough in each hex for the enemy to break your line with melees.

This will probably be the last major update to the game until I see some feedback so I know what direction to go in. This isn't really a version change but the full Download now contains the Map Editor so if someone wants to they can create their own battles and scenarios. There is a short instructi...

I am pretty sure that when you commit a stack to the melee the defender immediately fires so you know which units are still able to melee. As long as you have more units available, which usually requires two hexes if you are going for maximum force, you can bring additional units in until you have t...

Things learned from Braxton Bragg:

#1 If you are winning it's a enemy trick leading you into disaster, retreat immediately.

Mentioning Brother Against Brother, how is your approach different from that game? BaB included advanced mechanics within their regimental unit. The unit did a lot of internal actions to implement the limits of command control, fog of war, morale, etc. My game while it does have the regiment check ...

Lazy :0 Actually it is easier to use zip files since Microsoft included it as part of the OS. Just right click and say send to compressed. Zip does a couple of things that protect you from transmission errors. First, it compresses the file so it won't get broken up into so many pieces during transmi...

Being stuck at home has given me a bit more time on the game. I got a YouTube channel set up with a Demo and the first of what I hope will be a number of Tutorials on how to play the game. The Demo shows the execution of Turn 8 where I have plotted Doubleday's Division to attack Nicodemus Hill which...

There is no point to hidden VP values unless they are randomly changing every game.
