My wife and I visited her dad near Santa Barbara this weekend, and after church I approached a 97 year old vet (Bill Muncaster) who was a 29 year old Captain in the 99th Division HQ when the Battle of the Bulge started. He was skeptical of my knowledge of the battle, assuming all I knew about was Pa...

I think "don't ask don't tell" may be the best policy.

Not knowing whether your opponent knows (or knows you know, or knows you know he knows, or knows but can't remember, etc.) can each in itself alter your plan of battle.

I have the games installed in the "Program Files (x86)/HPS Simulations" folder on my W7 computer and they have always worked fine. However this is not the default directory, which is "Program Files/HPS Simulations". When patches are released I always have to direct the installer ...

If the club disallows "pre-game peeking", then it is an unfair advantage to guys who have played the scenario before, and the club would be (technically speaking) restricting us from playing our own game (e.g. " I just felt like playing this one all of a sudden as the Confederates aga...

I used to not "take a peek" at the opponent pre-game starting positions and reinforcements until I learned that some if not all of my opponents were either taking a look at the scenario or had already played it both sides. I suppose the best thing to do is agree on this before hand, but I ...

Check your Campaign Antietam/Map folder; it should have the highlighted files which are your 3D bitmaps:

If not, let me know and I can email them to you.

Gentlemen when you add these updates to your system.....does your opponent(s) also have to have same updates? thanks No, not the map or unit graphics. I'm not getting any 3D units in the HPS Antietam game, just the bases. Any idea of what I need to do? So you see 2D units but not 3D units? that's s...

The Matrix BGCW games are patched up to 1.02 for all countries - same file.

You have to patch to 1.01 then 1.02 since I don't think 1.02 is cumulative.

Main efforts lately has been improvements to the visibility of 2D map graphics, allowing for better operational planning without straining the eyes. Stone walls are more recognizable now as well: 2D extreme zoom: http://imageshack.us/a/img443/197/1023201243529am.jpg 2D normal zoom: http://imageshack...

Kennon, I remember some of the studies done on the BG series where the MP's were increased to allow for the wider variations of movement effects. I believe that was the best approach, but confusing to those familiar with the smaller MP rate as you mentioned. I think we could make a few scenarios for...

I just posted a request to HPS support to standardize the PDT's including increasing supply wagon movement of the older HPS releases per the later releases. The HPS CW titles is the anchor of this club but they are really starting to show their age IMO. This inevitably will take it's toll on club me...

I suppose I can switch back and forth between manual and AICC without missing too many beats. I don't suppose there is any downside to switching back and forth between manual and AICC. Also, I wonder if I go from AICC to AI automatic then will the AI automatic retain my orders? You should have no p...

My pleasure Colonel, Sir. My parting shots are these: Be prepared to witness first hand the ineptitude of the AI as you take command of the scripts. It still doesn't know how to change to column to cross bridges, it will use Cavalry like infantry, it will not seek to use commanders to rally units un...

Col. Martin, At the start of the scenario, you will need to select the highlighted Corps Commander and all of the highlighted subordinates. My experience has been that issueing CC orders to Division and Corps commanders only moves the commander himself. So you need to select the brigade commanders a...
