No actually when you select the rules WE select default. Most of the time we deselect the Artillery Capture, however.
So Rout limit is off. |

| Does anyone know how the slider work? I have been Playing the default optional rules minus Artillery capture and it seems like the Union has a much harder time of it. | All I believe most play with rout limit on and while it does limit mass routings I feel that it has a negative effect on the game in terms of casualties (too high) and tactics ((far less reserves and single line formations).
