Same thing happened in the Napoleonic Battles series, gents. I just leave the rule off. When I have done an analysis of it all it turns out that the losses of leaders usually tend to balance out. Only if someone is unwise to leave R.E. Lee or Meade out in the open to be captured (or other top leade... |

I do not consider this matter "relatively minor". "These errors happen" when WDS changes things that impact on overall gameplay and do not properly consider the ramifications of them and test the effects of any changes made. I believe this problem occurred when significant change... |

The "second-bloodiest battle of the war" must be talking about percentages. The only one I know that beats it is The Battle of Ball's Bluff. A personal favourite, where a US Senator was also among the casualties, and Union casualties reached a staggering 58% (1,002 out of 1720) plus three ... |

Welcome. I think your experience in boardgames should be invaluable in playing the WDS games. Just think of the WDS games as another boardgame with a different set of rules. Learn the rules and you should do well. Your VMI trainer and many others in the CSA will be happy to assist you along the way.... |

I agree with “B”. If we have control over over each commander, the rating should be done differently. My idea would be to have each level commander have a command range. Brigade have the smallest ehile Army or Division commanders would have the largest. The rating system is simple. Army commanders ... |

Yes, the Command rating "is just a fake one" so far as command performance goes. It is a misnomer: it has nothing to do with 'command' or 'performance'; it is all to do with morale (and assists with disrupted units). "A. If you think you are playing Lee or other overall commanders, th... |

Well, I purchased FoF and Crown so I will let you all know. Thanks for the recommendation Scott. Ive booted Crown and I actually like the map and the interface seems easy enough. We will see. Paul, I own WitE 1 and love it. I did purchase 2 earlier in the month after reading some of the upgrades an... |

#1. What does the "Disrupted" exactly mean in the game? I always considered it to be a 'lack of cohesion' due to a combination of the first two things mentioned: disordered formation and lower morale. Lowered efficiently I see more as an effect rather than a cause. The User Manual does di... |

Therefore, at Antietam, Lee should be rated Double A's based on my criteria. McClellan should be rated a "C" and "B". McClellan was marginally successful but not completely. But he also failed to get Burnside to follow orders. Nonetheless, the men loved him. So Leadership, in th... |

I suspect that each designer would have determined ratings differently based upon their own opinions flowing from their own knowledge. I'd be very surprised if there was consistency between the designers and the different titles. Regardless of what rating they chose, or why they chose them, the rati... |

The rating for leaders in these games have nothing to do with performance I say he should be graded on his performance The explanation will be great on this. I logged in just to comment on this fun argument. Lee is fine rated as he is at Gettysburg. But no higher and arguably lower. AOTP wins 51/49... |

The rating for leaders in these games have nothing to do with performance during the battle, or before, or after it. What? What I said is completely true. Probably best to read the User Manual (pp 46-49 has most of the information on leader ratings) as it will provide a detailed explanation for you... |

Quaama: Lee gets a B rating for Gettysburg? The man lost 28,000 men, failed in his strategic and tactical mission, and launched the most infamous assault in the Civil War. Lee is as overrated a general as there has ever been. Lee screwed up at Malvern Hill and did not learn from it. He repeated the... |

Parting words, the war was the war, the games are the games and the ratings are the ratings, But Lee was, is and always will be.......Lee ! We have Alexander, Napoleon and Lee, Generals who stood above all others and rightly immortalised by history. I'm done ! I could argue with your overly concise... |
