Sirs!!

I would like to thank my superiors for their confidence in my service and their recognition of my humble abilities. My recent promotion to command Mahone's First Division of General Beacco's illustrious Third Corps Army of Northern Virginia is an honor and privilege I will do my utmost to continue to earn and respect in the best southern tradition.

I believe a gathering of officers is in order at my command tent. And Yes! being an officer in the famed Swamp Legion, swamp juice is in order and will be served in large quantities. However, I do not have the original recipe so we will be using the one give to me by corps commander Gen. Beacco and there is something about adding a gallon or more of Reserve Italian Amaretto from his private stores. I will let his staff attend to these details and I will make certain there is a good supply of cigars to go around.

Now I know General Beacco's taste in the 'finer liquids of life', so I certainly will not miss this opportunity! I mean, I'm an Old Swamp Legion Officer myself, originally in the 1st Division way back when. I've kept an old recipe from General Den McBride, the way we used to make it......let's stick with General Beacco's new one! No on ends up with losing any teeth this way!!
