Sorry Al, but I found this young fella hanging around outside in the cold. He has an appointment letter for the Army of Alabama, so I have set him up by the fire with a large shandy (1/2 beer 1/2 Lemonaid). Barkeep I shall put gold on the bar so any other officers can join young Mr Rogers and myself.

You'll find out what a swell crew we are here at the Army of Alabama, and you might even hear some battle stories from General McOmish.

In this tavern, we are all just officers - no need to salute - just sit back, relax, and tell us a few tales of your own.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and the drink. I have a jug of nice corn squeez-ins from back home on my horse outside. Let's pass that around to liven things up and loosen up General Cam's tongue for some story telling.

I'm glad to be in the finest army in the CSA. Let's all take a swig to the glory of the Army of Alabama!

Alabama is a 'sweet home' that is for sure.

We think of ourselves as the perfect blend: the bravery of Texans, the politeness of Georgians, and we don't smell like Louisianians!

We are true frontiersmen. 'Alabama' comes from the Choctaw word for 'plant cutters'. Now that is a real American (Indian) name for a state. Not like Louisiana (named after French king Louis) and Georgia (named after British king George II). And Virginia...we won't go there...

Did I mention Mississippi? We're friendly with those folk - in the same Theater together (Western) - so we won't tell stories on them. The new CoA is from there - so it wouldn't help career advancement either.

General Hulinsky (new CoA) is a great guy, but don't misspell his name. Apparently, an "i" instead of a "y" makes his name Polish - and he's not. Don't know however I learned that...just heard it around the campfires I guess...it probably wasn't due to my inability to spell...or to have trouble telling fibs...

Here's a toast to the brave CSA! And the men who lead her!

Congratulations Sir! I heard there was a shindig down here in your honor. My wife's pappy from Indiana made some right fine Corn Liquor himself. I would be pleased to raise a glass of it to your health sir. I didn't realize there would be such the august crowd here, it is but a small flask that I have to pass in your honor.

I would have been here sooner, but there is a problem with my horse. At some tavern locations there are "guests" that visit and follow different "horse" rules than I and as a result my locomotion capabilities have been temporarily comprimised! Well I've a ways to go to hoof it back to where I belong, so I best be gettin along before I am missed. Again Sir, congratulations!

General McOmish informed me yesterday he was embarking from Richmond to Huntsville AB by mule train. It might take him a while to get here...but the party has just started anyway.

She must have been very popular, they named the whole state after her.
