Gentlemen I would like to introduce Field Lieutenant Paul Allaway and Field Lieutenant Thomas Marshall. These fine young men have just graduated from the VMI so they are not yet hardened to the tough way of AoT Tavern life, so please go easy. I expect the more upstanding members of this here army to take these young impressionable gents under their wings and introduce them to doing everything to excess. Now the bar tab has been loaded up with $500 (The reward for the capture of Gen Tim Miller), so we are in for a good long night. Remember our Army Motto Potus nocet usque tunc ventilabit per ( drink until it hurts, then push on through). Now for hells sake turn the Earl Scruggs up and lets party like it is 1863 - which it is.

Welcome young Lieutenants!

Barkeep! give me and these fine gentlemen some of that good "Redeye" under the bar! What?!!!!! You don't have any! Must have something to do with that dastardly Yankee Blockading and train robbing, I've been hearing about. I guess I'll have to pass on the rotgut. I will have some of that fine southern tobacco, though Lieutenants! And speaking of the Devil! Where is that Scalawag "General Miller" these days? (Always a good laugh!) I haven't heard his humor in the taverns these days! My guess would be in some "Slophouse Bordello south of New Orleans!

Again, you new Field Lieutenants, welcome to the "Lost Cause"!

I will take one of those cigars Thomas and a pint of fire water. General Miller has been turned over to the Union for $500 so I could pay the bar tab, so he will be away for a week or so until you Yanks find out that he can be very annoying, then I will score another $500 to take him back

A horde is known as a group of Yanks headed forward, driving a large group of Rebs known as a herd rearward to a stockade.

So what has the elephant got to do with it - you V Corps boys turning into zookeepers. Damn I am funny, as a matter of fact the more alcohol I consume the funnier I seem to be, plus my banjo playing also seems to improve. Drinking has so many upsides.

Cam, I have not yet witnessed it myself but I understand your one eared elephant impersonation late in a drinking and banjo plucking session in the tavern is quite famous. You may not remember these performances but that is what I was referring to.

Quite respectfully sir.

I must be thankful that it is 1861 and the mobile phone and YouTube has yet to be invented - not sure trying to convey that image via Morse code work.
