Gentlemen, *Salute
I am pleased to report back again to the Army of Tennessee for the August newsletter.

Muster Report:
Last month, 1st Division, 2nd Corps was the first division to muster 100% and 2nd Corps was the first to muster 100%. Donations have been made to the American Battlefield Trust in your honor. Keep up the good work!

Virtual Happy Hour:
To increase morale and build esprit de corps, the Army of Tennessee will start having monthly virtual happy hours over Zoom. Pour yourself a drink and get ready to discuss Civil War history and wargaming! Our first meeting will occur on Monday August 22nd at 8:300pm EST. Further information will be posted closer to the date.

Suggested Reading:
For general tactics and strategy, I suggest reading Maneuver Warfare: An Anthology. This collection of essays is pretty dense but extrapolates the tenets and practice of maneuver warfare. This can help you learn how to cognitively beat your opponent rather than physically.

For Civil War history, I highly recommend Living Hell: The Dark Side of the Civil War. This refutes the idealized portrayal of war that seeps throughout popular conceptions of the Civil War. The veneer of glory is stripped away, exposing the rot that warfare produces.

Suggested Viewing: The Blue Rudge PBS did an excellent series on Virginia in the Civil War, titled the Civil War Series, focusing on topics both iconic and relatively unknown. Included are contributions form Professors James Robertson Jr., and William Davis: two of the most prominent historians on the Civil War. The series is a bit dated but is worth viewing, nonetheless. It is available on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... 9z4uNZaQCf

Other news:
I encourage everyone to check out and donate to the American Battlefield Trust. Here is a recent update:
