All,
For your reading pleasure.
A bit over a decade ago I played a full game of TS Battleground Gettysburg. I was tired of playing the AI, but had not discovered ACWGC yet. Additionally, I had just read The Killer Angles, so I was interested in recreating a commander level experience. Therefore, I decided to 'umpire' a game using my friends who were mostly gamers, but didn't play the TS series. My friends took on the roles of Corps or Army commanders and I presented them with the situation as the battle developed. They each only saw the part of the battle they or their troops were seeing and had to communicate via messenger (through me) to the other commanders to get the 'big picture'. Basically, I acted as everyone's staff and conducted the mundane moving and shooting while they made all of the command decisions.
I tried to attach a Powerpoint of the 3-day battle, but to no avail. So I've attached as JPEGs.
I’m planning to get a similar game going for 1st Bull Run, using JTS Campaign Antietam. If you’re interested look for the post in the Opponent Finder forum in the next week or so (once I hammer out the logistical details).
