Remembering Pearl Harbor . . . My naval seaman father was just getting out of the base hospital in San Diego when he heard the news. Three days later he was flown to Hawaii to join his ship's crew, which survived. He spent the first six days there helping clear out rubble and burned out cars from the wharf facing the harbor. Dad said he had a perfect view of all the destruction during that time.
