Union Army Headquarters announces the retirement of
General Willie Passmore, commander of the 3rd Brigade, First Division, V Corps, Army of the Potomac. The general recently expressed his desire to retire after engineering a club career that stretches back to at least the summer of 2002. As an officer of the AotP General Passmore has served as a DC, CC, AC and ultimately a Theater Commander. He has amassed some 1335 OBD Points, being a prolific player and recording an incredibly well-balanced combat record of 29-8-17-8-23.
"Sir Willie" was a frequent visitor to the Mason Dixon Tavern and Opponents Wanted section of the ACWGC Forum, always casting about for a game and laying down his gauntlet for anyone to pick up.
Willie's commendations include the Sheridan Combat Medal and the Union Army Good Conduct Medal. He collected 19 Battlefield Ribbons and was a participant in the 2011 Fields of Glory Tournament.
The existing records indicate that General Passmore also commanded the 2/2/V/AotP and 3/2/I/AotP at different times as he moved through the various admin/command levels. He became the AotP's 6th AC in 2004. General Passmore very properly and consistently held to his own Muster obligations as a club member, a trait to which I can personally attest as the AotP Commander in 2012 & 2013.
For his collective services donated to the club as an admin/commander at various levels throughout his career General Passmore is awarded the following commendations on the authority of General Derald Riggs, Commander ACWGC Union Army.
Left to right: Outstanding Service Medal (1st), Exemplary Service Medal (1st), Honorable Service Medal (1st) and Good Conduct Medal (2nd).
All club members are invited to offer their salutes, sentiments and share, perhaps, some of their personal recollections of "Sir Willie" as we bid him good luck and good bye, on this the occasion of his elective retirement.
