That would be a lot like the Finn ski troop tactic in the Russo-Finnish War of 1939...they would fire and back up contiually making it very difficult for the Russians to pin them down. "Scoot and Shoot" as is now the modern tactic. Wondering if what you are proposing was a "regular" tactic in the ACW? Though I am sure that it was done on some occasions. Could have a rather "gamey flavor" to it. I am not as versed in ACW history as many of you are so I would welcomed being enlightened as to this tactic if I am making an incorrect assumption.
