 Post subject: Reinforcement Entry Hex
PostPosted: Wed Oct 25, 2006 1:55 am
I am aware that if units are too close to an oppositions entry hex that they will rout when the oppositions reinforcements arrive.

However if that hex is also a victory hex which you have taken many turns earlier and have troops on defending it, does it.........
1/ Deny the reinforcements entering?
2/ Assume if the above answer is NO then all troops on hex will rout and the hex revert back to the oppositions status and need to be retaken?

Hi, Colonel,

You would have to check and see if the entry hex is protected, which it probably is. Best way I have found to determine this is check the scenario in the scenario editor. My understanding is that if there is no protection, troops can't arrive if it is occupied by the enemy. That is why I lobbied to have the protection removed from Pittsburgh Landing at Shiloh; if the Rebs occupied it, Buell shouldn't be able to reinforce from there. If the entry hex is protected, then the problem you describe is all too real; your opponent holds back a reinforcement until the end of the game so that even if you take the victory hex, you can't keep it. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
