Gentlemen, the High Tide Tournament has been concluded. The tournament lasted approximately 10 months with 75 commanders (36 USA and 39 CSA) signed up to participate among 3 divisions which resulted in 72 head to head single elimination matches. It is hoped that everyone enjoyed their matches even though it was inevitable that only 1 would be left standing in each division in the end. There are many different styles of play and personalities within the club and maybe you got to experience some different ones by participating.

Brig Gen Doug Shaw, AotC, has accomplished quite a feat and won all 3 divisions of the tournament. For his efforts, Brig Gen Shaw is awarded the Sherman Victory Medal for each division that he won (3 awards) and receives the 15 OBD points associated with each award.

Brig Gen Shaw also receives 3 awards of the High Tide Tournament Winner Ribbon (gold bordered version).

Three different individuals met Brig Gen Shaw in the division finals. In this tournament, it was definitely prestigious to advance this far and for their accomplishments, they are awarded the High Tide Tournament Runner-Up Ribbon (silver bordered version). The commanders awarded the ribbon are Gen Jeff Laub for the Culp’s Hill Division, Maj Gen Drex Ringbloom for the Cemetery Ridge Division, and Lt Gen Pat Thompson for the Round Top Division.

Each commander who played at least 1 turn in the High Tide Tournament should have been awarded the High Tide Tournament Participant Ribbon after the first round of each division.

Many thanks to all who participated and hope that you enjoyed it as much as I did. Give yourself and these winners a round of applause. The bar is open and it is on President Strickler’s tab.

General Shaw, that is quite a feat, Sir. Well played.

A few of you older men may remember that Brigadier General Shaw was also the outright winner of the El Deguello Tournament last year.

Hats Off to the tournament organizers. Another fine piece of work. Outstanding effort!

Regards,

I congratulate you Doug for this singular great honor. Totally fantastic and amazing even. I salute you and suspect there will not be a dry glass in the house.

WOWZA!

Who does that kind of gaming? With a triple win like that Doug's going to have to change his name! Nobody will want to play him! Probably the only way he'll be able to get a game would be to volunteer for an MP contest of some kind, and then be relegated to commanding only one brigade!

I believe that there might be room for a new institution within the ACWGC Union Army: The Shaw Institute for Advanced Thrashing of Confederates!

Congratulations to this fine officer and the stunning achievement he's performed! And the same to all of the participants of both sides.

Wait... I just read the final sentence of the original posting! All of this was on my tab.... ha ... ha....

I, uh, seem to have left my wallet in my saddlebags.... I will be right back....

(Strickler bolts for the door and the sound of a horse quickly galloping away is heard)

Nicodemus looks around the tavern as General Strickler rides away, daring anyone to reach for his wallet.

That's an amazing record and one that should stand for quite some time...least until you enter and win the next tourney
