Seriously, I have a question for you general officers. Being fairly new to the game, I have wondered about the issue(s) being discussed here. Does anyone have any experience with how the HPS games react to an attack "En Echelon" ?

It general doesn't work because of the all seeing eye in HPS games. The premise of an "En Echelon" attack is the first units to attack draw an over reaction by the enemy which will strip other sections of the line of manpower so that when the later units strike it will be against a weaker line. Generally we know to much about what opposes us in HPS games for this to work.

Longstreet's late afternoon attack on the second day is an excellent example of an "En Echelon" attack both working (initially) and failing (due to the echelon orders failing). Hood wasn't suppose to take Little Round Top he was suppose to strike the Union left and draw their reenforcements toward him which did happen but if he hadn't been wounded he probalby would have kept his attack better focused. McLaw followe this up en echelon and reaped the benefits driving the Union back at all points. Unfortunately when Anderson's turn came to continue the attack command control fell apart. Since command control never falls appart in HPS this can't happen either.
