"I can't report any details of our current battle in order to maintain operational security, however Nicodemus does report that one of our former officers was spotted riding backwards in the saddle with tassles hanging from the seat of his pants. These are believed to have been acquired from a member of the Hancock's Division entertainment committee. A hell of a thing this war has become."

This officer should study his manual again, with particular attention to the section covering the uniform, he will see that the tassles are to be tucked in during combat.

What is a General Winfield Scott, is he an expert on tassels?

Every Union officer is an expert on tassels. Unfortunately they spend so much money on the uniforms they can only arm their soldiers with little plastic swords. Thats okay though because if it was a big plastic sword they would just grow an inferiority complex. (getting Freudian in here!)

General Strickler,
Blake,

Oh no Sir... your eyes are deceiving you. That is definitely NOT a plastic sword. The picture you have provided is not about the uniform or the red sash but the W. F. Widmann sword that he is holding. Have you not heard of the William H. Horstmann Company of Philadelphia, makers of swords after the "Marine Music Boy" or "Marine Sergeant Sword" pattern?

Here is a nice article about these swords. I would be willing to bet that a few of your own officers with a history of military service in their family may use and be in possession of such a fine sword as they are of both good quality and extremely affordable.

Gentlemen <salute>

I'd be a bit wary of joining a division with a hospital flag for a guidon

Major General Hebert,
Neal,

Why Sir... how astute of you to notice that it "IS" a Hospital guidon. Of course, it's not the Union soldiers that see it that will be needing a hospital... or maybe even worse!

Colonel Olinsky,

I can see where it might be an effective recruiting tool. Your ranks will be filled quickly with shin splints, blisters, STD's, and those simply trying to get out of the day's march

Is that a Republican elephant?!

Sir! We hang Republicans down south! (okay not in 2012 since were all Republicans down south but in 1860...)

No, suh! That is from the Guidon of our 4th Division, commanded by Major General Tony Beyersdorf. He elected the nickname "Crimson Tide" with a request for something based on the Hardee Flag. In keeping with the Alabama Crimson Tide, the elephant was added.

Since we now have a gator and an elephant, perhaps II Corps will be known as "Wild Kingdom"

Fast and furious
I am disappointed I missed out in the inital posts but if I can
refer back to an earlier post which described a transfer of monies and favors
actually I believe it was "30 Pieces of Silver" which changed hands
and someone muttering "Et tu, Brute"
and the Officers switching sides.... did someone say "Benedict" or "Arnold" was their middle names??

I just want to wish them the best of luck in their manuevers and the worst in their battles with the Armies of the Confederacy
