Gen. Whitehead sat on his horse watching the columns marching past. At least they were in high spirits, being well feed and clothed at Yankee expense. A dark though crossed the general’s mind. Turning to Gen. Tisdale at his side, “Sir, remind me when we get back in contact with Richmond that we need to get us a decent intelligence service. First information we get is that some scout named Mosby is now a General, although I do hope he brought an army with him. And, the next thing I get is someone telling me that Gen. Passmore’s army has taken a train east, no doubt to cross the Atlantic Ocean and invade Britain. We must do better than this, sir, we must.†|
