A bit late in responding ... welcome to the club Don but I also wanted to say that I also have a similar history. As a 10 year old home sick for a week, I read my brother's high school history text book and that started me on the road to enjoying reading military history. We were already playing Risk and the American Heritage board games (Battle Cry, Broadsides, etc). When I was 13, Dad and I picked up Avalon Hill's Luftwaffe but we could could not figure out what a "factor" was!!! DUH big time for both of us. Later on I figured that out but dad had moved on to doing more musical things. I had a lot of the same board games you did and Squad Leader + modules and Wooden Ships & Iron Men were my all time favorite AH games.

You will find this club has some of the sharpest history minds I know of. They really know the war. Hope you enjoy the club for many years to come.
