Convinced the wife to go with me to the Perryville, KY reenactment this weekend. Anybody else going? Should be fun. It's one of the only few places where they allow the reenactment on the actual battlefield. They allow it at Cedar Creek, VA. I haven't decided if it's sacriligous or not. Any thoughts?

What better way to honor the dead? Reenactments are only supposed to be allowed on the actual site if it is a state park, not a National park, I thought?

The Battle of Olustee, FL is reenacted on the same ground as the original field - but it is only a state park, not national.

I was able to visit Perryville very briefly once when I was young and my family was on the way to Columbus, OH. I convinced the family to stop off at the battlefield for a break from sitting in the car, but wasn't able to see much more than a quick walk around the visitors center and a stop off at one or two points on the field before we had to leave. I would like to go back. It is beautiful country up there.
