Post subject: Stevenson's Depot question.

I sent this message to Arckon at the gamesquad forum but got bounced so I will give it a go here to see if I get a reply.
Anybody else played this one and had this happen?

I don,t know if you are the author of the above scenario but if so I would like to thank you for such an enjoyable game. There is one oddity with it though and I wonder if you are aware of it. The game I was playing started off with the south having first move and finished with the south having the last move was this meant?

This is one of my most enjoyable battles I have found to date. Most of my first maneuvers with our newbies take place here. It has such a nice balance to the game and no matter how many times I games it, it always turns out different!

But as to your question, I had never noticed it before of what you say. I do know that at one time there was several different versions of the battle. One is called the Battle of Stephensons Depot and the other the Raid on Stephensons Depot.

In any case I am headed to see the site of Stephensons Depot (north of Winchester, Virginia) in early March as part of the See Ya in the Valley!

Gen Mullins,

I'm not familar with the scenario in question but it is possible to have either side move first and last in a scenario. The PDT FILE determines which side is the FIRST SIDE for each turn.
3
June, 1863
0
4 0 20 0 1 4

The third line determines who is the first side 0=yanks, 1=rebs

However in the SCENARIO EDITOR HEADER you can set the starting date, time, phase and SIDE for the FIRST TURN.

So you can set a scenario up where the yanks are the first player for victory determination but the scenario starts on the reb movement/fire/melee phase if you want. This would allow the reb to go first and last. Of course if you're playing in single turns then there are no seperate phases and the rebs can move although you could tell the players in the scenario description that it was designed such that the reb player is not to move on the first turn.

I've played a number of campaign battles where the Yanks (and to me, it seems it's always the yanks!! [B)]) both moved first and last. Turn 1 just starts at the yank player turn.

I've actually never played this battle, but if it's as good as y'all are saying...
