This is one of my most enjoyable battles I have found to date. Most of my first maneuvers with our newbies take place here. It has such a nice balance to the game and no matter how many times I games it, it always turns out different!
But as to your question, I had never noticed it before of what you say. I do know that at one time there was several different versions of the battle. One is called the Battle of Stephensons Depot and the other the Raid on Stephensons Depot.
In any case I am headed to see the site of Stephensons Depot (north of Winchester, Virginia) in early March as part of the See Ya in the Valley!
