Interesting...

In Campaign games where you have a leader wounded and he's replaced by Col Anonymous, in the next battle, if the original leader is healthy again, your brigades have 2 leaders. And, at least in Campaign Atlanta, he's now a named Col...

If that Col gets killed, even if he's 2nd in command, does he get replaced also? If the original guy gets hit again, does the existing Col just take over, or is another anonymous created?

(I'm just home, sick and bored, cuz I know I'll catch up on all my games soon)

I have never seen this occur. If you have a game where you have two leaders for a brigade you might want to send it to HPS since it is probably a bug.

A bug?

That would be disappointing and I hope not. Doesn't hurt command and control, and I'm sure that sometimes in the was a brigade was split up with a Col in charge of a part...

It's always happened when a brigade has lost its leader because of being wounded, I think. But if you think about it, a bridgade operates under a Col when its original leader is taken out (wounded), don't you think it would respect that "substitute" leader more when the original leader came back? Or, just having him available if the same leader got taken out again...

Anyway, I only remember off the top of my head in Campaign Atlanta, but that is the one I've gotten farther in more campaigns than any other, but I'll look at others as the turns occur.

Just thoughts...

<font face="Verdana"><font size="4"><font color="orange">Gents,

I am currently in a battle at Middleburg of the HPS Campaign Ozark and am the Union Command, I have two brigade commanders on the field for the same unit. However if you do a View Command range for the secondary leader you should find that he has NO command range at all. I have been currently trying to rally a routed unit with this secondary brigade commander with no luck at this point and the unit is a B rating, so not even sure he has any influence in the game at all?

If you have two leaders, only one will have a command range, as you mentioned, but the other can still be used to lead a melee charge for a leader bonus.

I had thought about that Rich... sacrifice the lesser leader if needed. Does the stack still get a leader bonus for morale if it's the lesser leader?

Ok, just noticed this (again).

In Campaign Atlanta, the sub-leader (now that the real leader is back)has his unit listed in yellow letters:

Col J E Taylor
<font color="yellow">2nd Brigade (Whitaker)
Mounted</font id="yellow">

(Yes Gery, you wounded Whitaker earlier)

While Whitaker is listed all in white letters.

I also noticed that Sherman is listed as
"<font color="yellow">A of the Cumberland</font id="yellow">"

While Thomas is listed as
"A of the Cumberland" in the same game.

Does this mean that Sherman has no command perogatives?
