Post subject:  Problem playing HPS games with Vista 64 bit

Tried opening a play by email file for Gettyburg and Chancellorsville and get the following error within the game

do you wish to watch rebel replay? yes
Error reading from replay file

i also tried the gettysburg file in my virtual machine running windows XP got same error?
can open up a new battle and there is no problem or errors (in the 2 turns i ran) any suggestions? (other than Vista sucks! I already know that:( )

This is the first thing I check when a problem with PBEM occours: Both players have to be using the same version, so I would make sure both of you are running the same version/update.

It should say 1.01 so the update didn't take. With Vista you need to make sure the download is going to the correct file. You can also check the HPS site for information Vista. I use this format:
C:HPS\HPS Simulations\Campaign Gettysburg, or whatever the campaign name is. I'm sure other more competent members will give you a better answer, but this should point you in the right direction.
