Hail Gentlemen!

As much as I try to avoid drawing favorable attention to Those People (preferring MiniƩ balls) I am positively compelled to alert you all to a new publication I have just received, signed by the author, Richard G. Krom.

It is a history of the 1st Minnesota Volunteer Infantry as told through some 218 hitherto unpublished letters & diary entries written by the author's great-grandfather, Edward H. Bassett, who volunteered in April, 1861 at age 19, surviving the entire three year enlistment.

Mr. Krom is a friend & fellow church member of my mother & sister in Rochester, Minnesota, who devoted some seven years to this labor of love &, speaking as one who has read & handled many a volume of military history, has created a beautiful, quality work of some 700 pages &, even though I have barely begun its reading, I would highly recommend those interested in first hand accounts to give this book a serious look.

Tom: Can you get the book through Amazon? My family is from Minnesota but my great-great grandfather joined the 36th Wisconsin.
