Post subject:  Windows Vista help

Gentlemen I am at wits end trying to solve a problem
one of my opponents is having opening files that I send him,
even to battles & campaigns that have hitherto functioned without difficulty.

He's running Vista & I Windows xp.

This has most often occurred with the EAW series that we play over at the CCC.

However, we are currently teammates with a third Confederate
engaged in a Multi-Player battles vs VI.Corps AoS
using the Corinth game engine, version 1.09.

As before, initially there was no difficulty with Maj Gen Noftz opening the game files
but the last few he has been unable to access
&
I cannot seem to locate for him the site or link that I seem to recall seeing somewheres
offering help for issues with Windows Vista.

Anyone out there who may be able to offer us any assistance
on this problem will find us all ever so grateful.

Generals Celamanka Noftz, Gerald Jensen & myself,

If you go to the HPS web site they have a link to instructions for running their games under Vista. It would be helpful to also know what error message he is getting when he attempts to run the game.

But the basic things to do under Vista are:

Never install the game in the "Program Files" folder. Create a new folder somewhere else, preferrably on a drive other than "C:". But if you only have one drive something like "C:\HPS" will work. Then install the games under that folder.

If you have a recent update to the executables which 1.09 should be you probably don't need to do anything else. Some older games you need to right click on the executable and go to its properties to change it's compatibility mode to "Windows XP" older OS.
