Post subject:  Online GAME- Campaign 1863

The below information is provided for members to be aware of other gaming opportunities. This message has been approved by the cabinet for informational purposes; neither the ACWGC nor the cabinet endorse the below information. The following information has been provided by the CAMPAIGN 1863 staff; Jeff Underwood:

The turn-based multiplayer team-versus-team strategy game "The Campaign of 1863" provides compelling gameplay of one of the most critical periods of the American Civil War: The Gettysburg Campaign. You will assume the role and responsibilities of one of ten historic military commanders. For each game turn, you will plan your actions, dispatch your orders and await the results. Can you maneuver your forces to victory or will you suffer an inglorious defeat?

Taking place in the summer of 1863, the game begins on June 22nd 1863 and runs through to July 10th 1863. Each game day consists of 2 game turns, a day turn and a night turn. During each turn players will receive staff reports on your units, combat results, and intelligence reports as well as correspondence from other commanders. Complete your orders and submit your correspondence prior to the dispatch deadline for the turn, then await the results.

All that's needed to play is a standard web browser and Flash player 8.0 or higher. The Campaign of 1863 is free to play 1 game at a time and offers subscriptions for hardcore wargamers that can't get enough American Civil War Strategy Game action.

The Campaign of 1863 is designed around what we call asynchronous gameplay. Which is just a fancy way of saying that players don't all need to log in at the same time to play. A game turn will last for a set number of day or days, and players will be able to log in at any time and plan and submit their orders up until the turn deadline (12:00 a.m.). Once the deadline is up the game will process all the players orders simultaneously then the results are posted, and players can log in and plan orders for the next game turn.

To join simply visit us at http://www.campaign63.com and register. Once you have completed your registration you will be free to join any game listed on the "Join A Game" page. There are currently 2 game types. The first is a 2 player "Duel" version of the game that pits Lee and the Army of Northern Virgina vs Meade and the Army of the Potomac. The second is a 5 vs 5 team game that pits Lee, Longstreet, Hill, Ewell, and Stuart and their respective Corps vs Meade, Reynolds, Hancock, Sickles and Pleasonton and their respective Corps. A 4 player game is currently being implemented and we hope to make it available soon.

Of those 2 game types there are also 2 game schedules available. Games in which orders are due on a Daily basis, and games where orders are due on a Weekly basis. During Beta testing all game type and schedule combinations will be made available. Please note however that game creation is currently restricted to subscribers only.

For detailed information of the actual gameplay please visit our game manual page at http://www.campaign63.com/manual.php
*Please note that during Beta testing portions of the gameplay and manual may change at any time.
