Hi, Bill,

I'm not sure what unlocking the OB allows you to do, but I would be tempted to do some Frost-style conversions to allow more realistic stacking limitations. One of the drawbacks of Battleground Frost was minimum 25 man casualty increments. I think HPS Frost might be more player-friendly, and encourage solid battlelines. It will mean more units though.

Neither did I with Battleground, but using the HPS system and the large maps, I think it would work much better. You are right about modifying the PDT, but thanks to Ken Miller's excellent tutorial, that isn't a problem.

Whoo Hoo! If we can really go to town on the oob's and have what amounts to an Army construction kit I would like to:

1. Add Patterson with 10,000 men to the Union Army at 1st Bull run so I can end the Civil War before it gets strated.

2. Similar to Bill, totally rearrange the Union army at Getty along the lines of my dream 4 x 4 x 4 x 4:

4 Corps (Reynolds, Hancock, Sykes & Slocum) each with 4 Divisions and each Division with 4 Brigades and each Brigade with 4 Regiments =

4 Corps
16 Divisions
64 Brigades
256 Regiments

Each Regiment has a nominal 250 men so 256 x 250 = 64,000 men. that's about right for the actual AoP at Getty
4 Regiments can stack together to max out the 1000 man hex limit or 3 Regiments with 4 Napoleons with the last Regiment forming a Brigade reserve.

This assumes that I ,as commander in chief, have the political power to insist that new recruits are fed into existing Regiments rather than create new ones. I will create a true United States Army that will destroy any Reb Army sent against it.
I'm not sure what the average quality rating becomes when implementing my design? Probably 2/3 "D" with 1/3 "C"?

I think I would like to see a lot fewer A rated Confederate units. Sometimes when I see all those A rated units I wonder why they needed bridges as surely most of them could just walk on water.

Opening the OOB's would allow a lot more "What if" scenarios to be made like what if Jackson was at Gettysburg. I would also allow us to make scenarios for battles not yet included in the Campaigns using existing maps like the Wilderness.

I would designate some of those supply wagons as Ale Wagons and install a new sobriety value for leaders! :P

(My surgeon said I could have one bottle of beer for the Independence Day celebration, buy he didn't say how big that one bottle could be!)
