Currently I am engaged in HPS ANTIETAM CAMPAIGN (meeting engagement) with Union officer B. G. Alan Benjamin. We have just finished the first battle of the campaign CEDAR MTN. During this engagement Alan was able to destroy four pieces of my art. by his art. fire. I knew better than to place my guns where I did but did it anyway. During the calculations for the points to be awarded he was only given points for one gun destroyed. The overall battle ended in a draw. Although I do not think in the long run the points would have swayed the outcome of a draw there was that possibility.
My question is, is this common in all the HPS games or just ANTIETAM or some of the others as well, and is the occurrance frequent? We both are using V1.02.

ANY OBSERVATIONS OR ANSWERE APPRECIATED.

The problem had started with one of the earlier patches and was in turn resolved by patches dated the first part of this year, but it doesn't look like the Antietam disk was ever patched. I think that the patches created a new table with the purpose of keeping up with the artillery count. I also think that the problem was apparent only in phase play and not with turn play. Rich Hamilton at HPS/JTS Support would be in a better position to say if a patch is forthcoming for HPS Antietam.

As to it's frequency, it was unpredictable.

Gen. Simms,

Thank you sir for your reply. Just for others information we were using Turn based play. The loss of my guns happend over to seperate turns. On the first turn Alan hit a 3 gun section knocking out one gun, fired several other salvos in the same turn taking out the last two guns of the section. On that move he was credited with only the first kill.
On a seperate move later on he took out a one gun section and received no credit at all. Having said that just now it has me wondering if possibly by taking out a whole section of guns, if there is a flaw in the program that does not calculate the elimination of all the guns in the section. If that possibility does exist, not that I mind, being a Southern Gentleman,
then the Union with their usually larger gun sections are at a small disadvantage, again not that I mind. I had noticed this once when playing the A/I but had never seen it against a live opponent.
General Simms again many thanks for your reply

Several times I have had games in which gun kills were credited until a section was down to 1 gun, then no credit was givin for the last gun kill.

I believe I have seen that happen before at Chancellorsville as well. You'd knock out 8 enemy guns but get credit for only, say, 5 of them.
