From Gen. Ned Simms' daily history of the Civil War, the average Confederate's pastime: "increased drinking, particularly among Confederate officers, who were said to imbibe “in quantities which would astonish the nerves of a cast-iron lamp-post, and a quality which would destroy the digestive organs of the ostrich.” So much for the Kentucky Bourbon they profess to have......

I heartily support increased drinking; it has helped the economy of the south greatly

Not to give too much away but as I understand it from Gen Jim Garner the state of Kentucky will fall to the AotM within the next few months so the supply will be restored :mrgreen:

I should hope, General McOmish, if this supposed loss of Kentucky back to the South should occur, that it will in no way diminish the quality or quantity of the monthly bourbon shipments to which I have become accustomed. There are elements of civility that must be observed, sir, even in the midst of the current unpleasantness; indeed, even more so! Do you not enjoy the carte de vistas from Miss Fleming's that I regularly send you?
